Day 32: Phnom Penh

This morning I flew to Phnom Penh on the quickest 30 minute flight of my life. I checked into the hotel, where I realised the photos on the website are similar to photos on tinder i.e. flattering angles and not entirely a true reflection of reality. Still, it's perfectly fine for 3 days and has air con and a fridge for my beer, so I can't complain.

This afternoon was spent wandering around the city. First stop was lunch at Friends tapas restaurant which was amazing. I had chicken curry with crispy noodles. I don't know why they market themselves as a tapas restaurant as the portions are main meal sized. After lunch I went to Central Market to look around. Although the people here are far less pushy than in Siem Reap, I just found myself really bored of the whole market thing so I didn't hang about long.

This evening I went for a foot massage at Champei. It was 1 hr, cost $10, and was so amazing that I fell asleep. You know when you stop petting a dog and it jerks its head up to look at you to say "why'd you stop?". Well that was me. If I get the time I'll definitely be going back for a back neck and shoulder!

After I was suitably relaxed I went to dinner at Anise which is a nice little hotel restaurant recommended to me by a friend (shout out to Hannah who's been here countless times and also recommended Champei). I had vegetable spring rolls to start followed by beef salad. I didn't want anything too heavy after my curry lunch. What I love about Cambodia compared to Thailand is that you can actually get decent wine here! And it's cheap. After dinner I hit some bars, however given it was Friday night everywhere seemed rather dead... maybe the party doesn't start until after my bed time.

On another note, I'm half way through my trip. How the hell did that happen.
