Day 17: Koh Tao

Today has not been fun. I travelled from Ko Lanta to Koh Tao which takes 10 hours. I was pissed off because my email confirmation said they'd pick me up from the hotel at 0720, which turned out to be bollocks as it was 0850! So I could've had much longer in bed. Luckily I managed to sleep some of the journey here. First a couple of hours on a minivan then a stint in a coach, then a brutal 3 hour ferry ride in choppy seas. The girl in front of me was spewing her ring and I was pretty close myself!

My hotel is fine, although no air con this time so tonight could be uncomfortable. That said, the noise of the fan might drown out all the partying. I hadn't eaten much all day so once I checked in I headed straight for a Thai place called Su Chili where I had stir fried chicken with cashew nuts (branching out from my usual choice of curry). It was tasty, but I think the curry would've been a better choice.

I walked down to the beach to check out a few bars which were really cool. Nice chilled out atmosphere with beanbags on the beach and good cocktails. Ko Tao is a really nice little place, it's much smaller than Ko Lanta still has a good party scene. I am getting pretty sick of fire shows though. There's been one every night in every place I've been to in Thailand. Sure it's impressive, but it gets pretty dull after a while.

I only had one alcoholic beverage today. So proud of myself. Getting a relatively early night. I'm still suffering lack of sleep from last night, and I'm up early for my dive course tomorrow. Can't wait!
