Day 16: Last day in Lanta

Today I went on a 4 island boat trip. It takes you to two snorkelling points, and a couple of nice beaches. You also go to Emerald cove where you have to swim underneath the cliff face for about 80 metres before you get to this really nice little beach where pirates used to hide their booty.

It was a long day, made worse by the fact the tour was 90% Chinese people. They turned up in their swimming caps and wet suits, but wore dresses and leggings over them, as you do. Every one of them had camera lenses bigger than telescopes and did nothing but fall over each other, and everyone else, to take endless photos of rocks and boats. And then more rocks and boats. I was ready to throw them overboard. I can't say I'm all that looking forward to visiting China. Check out the muppets below...

I got back about 6 and joined the rest of the guys from the hostel at the beach to watch the sunset and drink beer. Then about 10 of us headed out for dinner and then to Tree House bar for a party which was fab. Spent the evening dancing in the trees and drinking singha to a really awful, yet brilliant, live band.

It's now 230 and I'm rolling into bed thinking about my 7am pick up to ko Tao tomorrow. I'm sad to leave ko lanta. It's a beautiful island, I've stayed in one of the nicest hostels, and I've met lots of really great people. Time to hit the other side of the island!

  1. hahaha, love that photos of your new mates! Reminds me of the time we took a boat to Green Island and the boat was full of Japanese tourists.
