Day 23: See ya Samui

Today I went on a tour of the island. We started off at the Big Buddha. It's a big gold statue, and once you take a photo you're done really, not much else there. Our 'guide' told us fuck all, he was basically a chaperone.  He called me Davies the whole day, possibly because he couldn't pronounce my name or maybe he actually though that was my first name. Next stop was a viewpoint area, which i'd actually been to the day before. Then we went to see this weird rock formation called grandfather and grandmother rock (basically a rock that looks like a penis and one that looks like a vagina). Cue lots of men lying on the ground in front of it staging a comic photo. Following that we went to a temple to see the mummified monk and then to a waterfall where there were elephants. I hated it. The poor things leg was chained to the ground, and the chain was so short that it could barely move an inch. So sad.

Tonight I went to a Thai tapas place. The food was really nice but the drinks were overpriced so I had a Coke cause I'm a tight Scottish bastard. On the walk back I stopped for mango and sticky rice, because eating rice for lunch and dinner just isn't enough, you also need to have it for dessert.

Can't wait to move onto Chiang Mai tomorrow! How anyone can spend a whole holiday on this island is beyond me.
