Day 49: Kowloon/Mongkok

Rather annoyingly I wrote a blog post for yesterday but for some reason or another it hasn't published . So this entry is going to be rather shit as a) my memory is appalling and b) I can't be arsed! Yesterday I took the star ferry across the harbour to visit Kowloon/Mongkok. It's classed as the shopping area, so not exactly my scene, but apparently worth checking out regardless.

When I arrived I went straight to Din Tai Fung for brunch. It has Michelin star and is apparently one of the best places to go for dim sum. It was amazing! I had BBQ pork bao and some pork dumplings, which you dip in this yummy soy, vinegar and ginger sauce. I could've eaten a hundred of them! Luckily they also have branches in Beijing and shanghai so if I struggle for food in china at least I know I can go there!

After is explored Kowloon I travelled back into central to check out Yat Lok restaurant which is famous for its roast goose. I've never had goose before, but apparently there's nothing I won't eat these days. It was delicious! The best part was the caramelised skin. You just have to avoid lookin at the whole roasted geese hanging in the window. And don't watch as the chef cuts off their necks and hangs them on a rail...

Later that evening I went back across to kowloon to watch the Symphony of lights show. Basically lots of buildings on Hong Kong island light up and shoot laser beams in the sky for about 10 mins. It's really pretty to watch but hard to get a good spot due to the sheer amount of tourists. The cruise ship docked nearby had the best view in the house.

It's the build up to Hong Kong 7's rugby just now so there are hot rugby men everywhere!!im gutted as I've matched with a couple of them on tinder, but I leave for shanghai day after tomorrow 😭😭
