Today has been stressful. I arrived at Hong Kong airport around 1pm but didn't get to my  hotel until closer to half 3 due to waiting in line for tickets, walking from station to station and then trying to find my hotel. My shoulder was aching with my backpack by the time I got there. On the way back I think I'll do the bus and take the stress out of it all.
My hotel room is a cupboard. A cupboard costing me £130. But it's clean and the location is good. My stress mounted when shortly after arriving I find out that fraudsters have yet again re-enrolled me for online banking and changed my email address. Cue me spending £10 trying to call the fraud team to have it disabled again. It's bad enough trying to have someone access your account anyway, but when you're half way across the world it makes things all the more difficult. Still trying to sort things out at the moment 😖
By this point it's 5pm and I'm in need of a very stiff drink. I also hadn't eaten all day. I jumped on the metro to Central and went to Tim Ho Wan restaurant which was hoaching! I just ordered to go as the line for sitting was ridiculous. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing as I didn't rate it. To be fair I had no idea what I asked for. Had some sort of dumpling with BBQ pork which was ok, but not worth the queues. Then I went to the bar area and had a couple of wines. It was happy hour so it was only £6 a glass. I am not used to these prices after everywhere else I've been! It got worse from there as the next bar was £12 a cocktail. Plus they have the cheek to add a 10% charge for sitting at the bar!
After a few drinks I went to a salsa night around 1030. Fortunately it was also two streets away from my hotel and apparently the best salsa night in town. It was a lot of fun, but there were only a couple of really good dancers there. I think a lot of people travelled to Hanoi for the festival this weekend. At 1am I called it a night.
Regardless of how expensive this city is, I like it. Feels like it would be an easy city to live in. Arriving late, I haven't seen much of the city yet but I'm looking forward to exploring tomorrow.
