When I was made redundant from my job
earlier this year, there was no doubt in my mind that I would take some time
out to go travelling. This kind of opportunity doesn’t happen often (at least I
hope not) and I am fortunate enough to be in a position where there is no
financial pressure to find another job straight away. The only hard decision
was deciding where I wanted to go. Ultimately it came down to South America or
Asia. Whilst speaking the language would have made the former an easier option,
the diversity of cultures in Asia was a bigger draw. Ok, that’s bollocks, I
wanted me some thai food and didn’t fancy being kidnapped and sold as a
sex slave for a Colombian drug lord. 
So, my adventure will begin on Monday 13th
