Day 1: Singapore

After a rather seamless journey I have arrived in Singapore. Much to my disappointment, I was not upgraded to business class on the journey here. That said, cabin manager, Moamen, took a shine to me while I was stretching my legs and for the duration of the flight allowed me to use the business class toilets and served me the better quality business class red wine. Sometimes it pays to be blonde.

Today I learnt that my backpack is fuckin heavy! The kilometre walk from the station to the hotel just about killed me and has done nothing for my hip and shoulder problems. I think more surgery might be on the cards when I'm home. Might go for a full on replacement next time.

Anyway, Singapore is cool so far, although I'm not loving the constant rain showers. This afternoon I walked to Chinatown and went to the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple. Not sure why it's called that, as I didn't see any teeth. I may have been enlightened had I stopped to read any of the information signs, but I was hungry and the hawker centre was calling my name. The food court was pretty special, although how you choose from the hundreds of stalls there I don't know. I'd read recommendations about one stall in particular, Tian Tian Hainanese chicken. Clearly so had everyone else, as it was the one with the biggest queue. 15 minutes later and I had my $5 chicken rice. Don't get me wrong, it was fine and I cleared my plate, but it was just chicken and rice at the end of the day and not any more or less tasty than the one served to me on the flight in. I haven't seen any fat people here, so I'm taking that to mean the food is super healthy and that I can eat as much of it as I want.

I've had 4 hours sleep over the past 2 days so early night for me ahead of more exploring and eating tomorrow.
