Day 57: Osaka - custard tarts and katsu curry

It's a miracle! I can walk again! The pain went away as suddenly as it came on. Strangest thing. Or maybe it's the meds taking effect. I don't care I'm just so happy that I can make the most of my last 10 days here!

So, Japan is amazing! Osaka is so cool. Loads of little alleys with bright neon lights, lined with sake bars and restaurants that smell incredible! Easy to see why Osaka is the culinary capital of the country. The people here are so friendly, and civilised, and everyone speaks English which is helpful. When I arrived I treated myself to an egg custard tart at the famous Lord Stow's bakery and wish I hadn't, because it was literally the best thing ever. I'm taking bets on how many of them I can eat over the next two days here.

I checked into my hostel which is in a great location in Dotonbori. I have my own room but the facilities are shared. I haven't seen anyone else there yet though so didn't fight for the showers. They also have heated toilet seats! Well posh for a hostel! After I'd showered I went out for some dinner. I went to Oretachi No Curry Ya which is famous for its katsu curry. It was fab! Huge portion of rice, crispy chicken, spring onions and a soft boiled egg. I'm starting to wish I had more time here to sample more of the food.

I went out a bit too early as most bars don't open until at least 8. Usually I start drinking much earlier, so that's no good to me. I did manage to find a nice little wine bar though. Drinks average around £3.70 here so it's not too bad. There's been no unwanted attention here either so far, unlike in china where people would just stare at you.
Tomorrow I have a long day ahead of me. I have a lot to cram into one day, so my miraculous healing could not have come at a better time as I need to get my power march on! Better pack plenty custard tarts for energy 🤔
